Rules
 
The 7 th Jianli International Percussion Festival is open to all percussionists, percussion enthusiasts, students and teachers of any nationality.

. Competition Groups
The competition takes place in various instrumental divisions including marimbas, drum sets, snare drums,traditional Chinese drums and ensembles. Candidates must be of qualifying age as of August 31, 2016 for the upcoming competition in August 2016.
Marimba Age Groups:
Group A (Ages from 18 to 35)
Group B (Ages from 12 to 17)
Group C (Ages under 12)
Drum Set Age Groups:
Group A (Ages from 18 to 35)
Group B1 (Ages from 12 to 14)
Group B2 (Ages from 15 to 17)
Group C1 (Ages from 8 to 9)
Group C2 (Ages from 10 to 11)
Group D (Ages under 8)
Snare Drum Age Groups:
Group A (Ages from 18 to 35)
Group B (Ages from 12 to 17)
Traditional Chinese Drum Age Groups:
Group A (Ages from 18 to 35)
Group B (Ages from 12 to 17)
Group C (Ages under 12)
Percussion Ensemble (Any form of Ensemble is welcomed. One free choice piece. Only one round)
Group A (Ages over 18)
Group B (Ages under 18)

. Application Instructions
We provide conventional percussion instruments. Other particular instruments need to be prepared by the candidates.

. Repertoire Requirements and Competition Rules
The competition will be organized into three rounds: Round One, Round Two and Final Round. (Percussion Ensemble has only one round)

1) One free-choice piece
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Group A (max. 15 minutes)
Group B (No time limit)
Group C (No time limit)
Drum Set Groups:
One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Snare Drum Groups:
1) One free-choice piece
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Traditional Chinese Drum Groups:
One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
 
Round Two:
Marimba Groups:
Group A
1) Johann Sebastian Bach, 5-10 minutes, chosen by the candidates
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Group B
1) Johann Sebastian Bach, 5-10 minutes, chosen by the candidates
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Group C
1) One free-choice piece
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Drum Set Groups:
One compulsory piece from our repertoire list, with electronic accompaniment
Snare Drum Groups:
1) One free-choice piece
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Traditional Chinese Drum Groups:
One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
 
Final Round
Marimba Groups:
1) One free-choice piece
2) One compulsory piece from our repertoire list
Group A (max. 25 minutes)
Group B (No time limit)
Group C (No time limit)
Drum Set Groups:
One free-choice piece, with electronic accompaniment

Candidates have to supply copies of music scores and accompaniment of free-choice pieces to our staff members when confirming attendance on August 11-12, 2016. (Save the accompaniment in a USB flash drive)

First Prize winners of previous festivals are banned from taking the same group competition of this year.


Ⅳ. Judging Criteria 
Guided by the rule of fairness, justice and openness, the whole competition will be recorded by video for check. The organizing committee reserves the final judgment regarding anything beyond its reasonable control or force majeure event.
 

. Application Fees
Application fee of RMB 2300 (all fees of competition, entry to concerts and master classes included) must be paid together with application form.
A visitor pass costs RMB 1,800 per person. For parents of candidates, it costs RMB 1,200 per person. (Each candidate can take two family members.)
Candidates who apply for over 1 group of competition should pay RMB 680 as jury fees for each additional group of competition.
Application fee is non-refundable.
Candidates will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses.

Ⅶ. ACCOMMODATION
For the duration of the competition, we recommend the following reasonably priced accommodation for candidates. The hotels are situated nearby the competition hall in the city Taiyuan, Shanxi. Due to high demand of Hotel Rooms in this period, we recommend booking your accommodation early in advance.

Ⅲ. Application Procedure
All candidates and visitors must register on and log into the official website of Jianli International Percussion Festival, find the Application Entry and complete the Application Form as requested (A photocopy of the page(s) of Passport displaying photograph and identification details as well as a recent passport size photograph of white background should be uploaded).

.COMPETITION RULES AND CONDITIONS
1. By application, candidates confirm that they have read, and agreed to abide by all rules and procedures of the 7th Jianli International Percussion Festival 2016. 
2. Candidates understand that incomplete applications (including failure to pay fees and failure to fill in the form properly) will result in disqualification.
3. All candidates must register on and log into the official website of Jianli International Percussion Festival, complete the Application Form as requested. Upon receipt of the application fee, it will complete the formal agreement between the organizer and the candidate regarding his/her participation in the competition.
4. All candidates must take part in the competition ONLY by Candidate Card. Proper dress attire is required during total competition. Clothes with school logo are prohibited.
5. Candidates being under the age of 18 years on 31 August 2016 must take part in the competition with parents or guardians. Organizers cannot be held responsible for the safety of candidates outside the competition. 
6. Organizers cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to the personal property of the candidates or their guardians during the period of the festival.
7. The organizers reserve the right to broadcast their performances by any televised or radio broadcast means, including the Internet, cable networks, terrestrial or other broadcasting, live or pre-recorded, as well as the right to record, reproduce, and arrange for the reproduction of their performances in the competition and at the concerts on record, CD, SACD, sound track, audio cassette, video cassette, video disc or CD-ROM/CDI, DVD, minidisc, or any other existing or future medium. In addition, prizewinners are obliged to perform in social and outreach activities. 
8. All decisions made by the panel of judges are final and may not be appealed. Candidates agree to accept the jury decisions and to respect the rules of the Competition. 
9. Application fee is non-refundable.
10. Candidates authorize the organizing committee to publish their personal information and competition results on the official website of the festival. The whole competition is open to the public.

Ⅸ.supplementary articles 
1. The organizers reserve the right to record, reproduce, and arrange for the reproduction of their performances in the competition and at the concerts on record, CD, SACD, sound track, audio cassette, video cassette, video disc or CD-ROM/CDI, DVD, minidisc, or any other existing or future medium. 
2. The organizing committee reserves the final judgment regarding anything not specified in this rule.
3. Candidates are expected to maintain an acceptable standard of behavior at all times. Any breach of the above rules and conditions shall render the candidate liable to disqualification. In the event of any such breach, the organizer may withhold payment of awards and certificates. Candidates are responsible for all the costs and losses.
